Smaller mods, and a record lamp that will not blink

Chris · Delaware, USAMX-5050-QXHD

Tape Transport Record Lamp Issue: will not blink when record function is selected on the electronics section. TURNS OUT THIS IS NORMAL FOR MY MODEL.

  • 6 volts from transformer ties to one lead of lamp
  • Other lamp lead goes to Pin 10 on transport motherboard…..
  • This lead splits off to the back panel remote connector (to power the remotes lamp) and also continues on to….
  • Pin 7 of PA-316 Control circuit board
  • It then goes to Q4 which is controlled by IC10, 14, etc. All this is the driver circuit for the record lamp.
  • Pin 7 (REC / OUT) on the control circuit board connects to Pin 3 (REC OUT) on the electronics section connector CN4F.
  • Pin 3 then connects to Pin 13 on CN12 Electronics Motherboard. This then goes thru the SEL/REP switching and finally ends up on the record lamps on the electronics section
  • The input to the Control circuit board is Pin 14.

Nowhere on the schematics are a "blink" circuit that I can see. Otari guy from AnalogRules website states that not all Otaris had this blinking. And, sure enough, my user manual was from a "B" series deck. Damn. All this thinking for nothing.
