The first brochure: Specification Sheet S-111

The order from the last entry arrived: three sales brochures, each a different document. The first through the scanner — 1200 dpi, same as the paper manuals — is a two-page color specification sheet, and its footer introduces it better than I can: Printed in U.S.A.—S111—8-76. This is Otari's own Specification Sheet S-111, effective August 1976, for the one- and two-channel machines — and its introduction politely points four- and eight-channel buyers to sheets S-108 and S-110.

It is the document the specs page has been asking for since it was written: the maintenance manual gives the tolerances a technician holds the machine to, but not the promises a buyer was made — input sensitivity, output level, frequency response, and the suggested list prices: $1,450 for the full-track FL and the half-track 2S, $1,420 for the quarter-track 4S. Those figures are now folded into the specs page, and the sheet itself is in the Library — web download, 1200 dpi scan, and a transcribed digital edition.

Honest sales paper, this: the signal-to-noise table states its reference fluxivity and even its reference tape, and the weighted figure matches the factory tolerance in the maintenance manual. The sales department and the service department agreeing with each other, in print.

The other two brochures are on the scanner bench. More paper soon.
