The $65 rescue: a stuck pinch roller and an LED retrofit

Chris · Delaware, USAMX-5050-QXHD

Purchased from Craigslist in MD. $100 got the unit, manuals, some tapes, and a split-reel that the seller made a point was worth good money. Sold it on eBay for $35 so the OTARI ended up costing me $65. Unit was not working; the pinch roller engagement arm was stuck due to dried lubricant. Completely disassembled, cleaned, and re-lubed.

LED retrofit

A few burned out indicators. Sourced some nice LEDs and replaced all. De-Ox'ed all controls.
